When I Was A Kid By Boey

Boey, your book :)
Finally I finished my second book of the year. I got this book from Mom for Christmas gift last year.

This book was written by Boey our Malaysian illustrator who lived in America.
What I like about this book is, everything was simple. It didn't require me to think so much and it feels like I am reading a comic!

Whenever I read this, it will flash back all the memories I have during my childhood times which is basically great.

I don't remember most of them but reading this makes me tend to rewind back all the good stuffs back to the old days, which is good.

I remember when I was at Form 4 and mom never allow me to go party and friends at school was "wow-ing" me everyday here and there 'bout the party which they went the day before. And I felt like I was so left behind. So one day, me and my cousin decided to sneak out of the house and guess what? When the party was over, mom was waiting for us at home with dad uncle and aunty. That was so embarrassing and that was when we decided not to sneak out of the house anymore!

And, this is me when I was a kid

Actually I still have more. But that's it! I gotta go.

Safe Haven by Nicholas Spark

I've been struggling to finish this book since 3-months ago. You know, I am not a slow reader ain't you?
And I have my own way of reviewing books. I am tired with  the old-fashioned review and so on.

So this is the book which I always wanted to read. It started pretty well and I found it was boring sooner after that. But it didn't stop me.

And little did I know,

It started to get interesting when I reached chapter four.

And that's when I couldn't stop reading.

Katie is one brave girl who deserves a better guy and a better life. She was married to a man who she thought the one. But eventually, she married to a wrong man who hit her with no good reason. He doesn't allow her to have her own friends and he hates kids. What kind of  man is he? I am wondering.

She managed to escape from her wicked husband. But how long she can keep her secret?. Can you ever imagine to live a life with false identity?. Can you ever imagine living in someone else's life?

Alex lived in Southport with his two little kids Josh and Kristen. The story begins when he saw Katie walking to his grocery shop one day. I must say, it is pretty hard to start a conversation especially to a person who don't talk to a stranger like me. Laugh out loud.

Kevin is insane. He managed to hunt for Katie. I must say, he has some kind of split personality in him. He is too obsessed to Katie that he can't tell which one is real. But what happened to him, served him well enough.

Anyway, overall - I find this book is worth reading especially for someone who need courage to live on.

Love can hurt but it also can heal. Trust takes time and honesty is priceless.

P/S I heard they made this into movie. Oh gosh, you wouldn't believe it if I say Josh Duhamel is playin'.

Book #6 : The Truth About Melody Browne by Lisa Jewell

In two words : Fun and Mystery

My Copies,no watermark because too lazy nowadays.

According To Goodreads : When she was nine years old, Melody Browne's house burned down, taking every toy, every photograph, every item of clothing and old Christmas card with it. But not only did the fire destroy all her possessions, it took with it all her memories - Melody Browne can remember nothing before her ninth birthday. Now in her early thirties, Melody lives in a council flat in the middle of London with her seventeen-year-old son. She hasn't seen her parents since she left home at fifteen, but Melody doesn't mind, she's better off on her own. She's made a good life for herself and her son and she likes it that way. Until one night something extraordinary happens. Whilst attending a hypnotist show with her first date in years she faints - and when she comes round she starts to remember. At first her memories mean nothing to her but then slowly, day by day, she begins to piece together the real story of her childhood. Her journey takes her to the seaside town of Broadstairs, to oddly familiar houses in London backstreets and to meetings with strangers who love her like their own. But with every mystery she solves another one materialises, with every question she answers another appears. And Melody begins to wonder if she'll ever know the truth about her past.

What I say : 5 Stars for this one. I enjoyed the reading from the start. I just loved this book so much that I can't put down this book until I finish them within 3days. Can you ever imagine your past? Being adopted and that you couldn't remember any of your childhood memories. I used to think that I was adopted before because I never see any of my babies photos. Ha ha. I am just being ridiculous now. But this book worth the money.

Book #5 : Be Careful What You Wish For by Alexandra Potter

In two-words : Boring, Confusing

According to GoodreadsHeather Hamilton is always wishing for things. Not just big stuff - like world peace, or that Brad Pitt wants her as his next leading lady - but little, everyday wishes made without thinking. With her luck, she knows they'll never come true...
Until one day she buys some heather from a gypsy. Suddenly the bad hair days stop. A handsome American answers her ad for a housemate. She starts seeing James - The Perfect Man who sends her flowers, excels in the bedroom, and isn't afraid to say "I love you".
But are these wishes-come-true a blessing or a curse? Does getting what you want make you happy? And is there such a thing as too much foreplay?

What I say:

I don't know but this book quite a boring book to me.It's hard for me to understand the whole story. Sometime it get me confused.I've read Potter's book before and they are perfectly fine but not this one.
It feels like the story keep on jumping from one another to another part of the unfinished- stories, like when Heather lose her handbag and the lottery and Gypsy heather was in there, Heather was panic. Who doesn't right? But the author didn't tell anything about how did she found her gypsy heather back later after that?

Overall, I feel like there is something missing in this book. I mean it really starts well but when I started to read half-away, I started to get boring, lost and confused like so many times.

For this I will only give 1-bookmark.

Book #3 : Who's That Girl by Alexandra Potter

Google

When I first saw this book, the first thing which really catches my eyes was the front cover. They've got the whole books of Alexandra Potter on the shelf. And they are beautiful and catchy.

"The cover are cute." So I took them back, Mr.Darcy and Me and Who's That Girl with the cheapest price in town.

Back at home, I was actually half way to the end of Giffin's book. But I decided to swicth on Potter's writing.

Alexandra Potter's Review :

If only you knew then what you know now…
Imagine you could go back ten years and meet your younger self – would you recognise her? And what advice would you give?
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Back away from those PVC trousers
  • DON’T give that idiot your phone number
  • Lemon juice won’t bleach your hair – it just attracts wasps…
  • He's The One - don't let him get away
For Charlotte Merryweather, there’s no need to imagine. She’s about to find out for real.  With some surprising consequences…

My Review :

Charlotte is at her 30s and she own a successful PR firm. Basically, she's one busy woman who got her thing organized from A-Z.She read a self-help books, she have her own personal trainer, brilliant assistant Beatrice and Miles the boyfriend the property developer.

She met her younger-self through one of the particular route in London. And that she decide to follow the road and come to her surprise she saw the house where she used to live 10 years ago.

She made friend with her younger-self and decide to teach Lottie about few simple things of life's like "do not sleep with Billy Romani", "do not wear that PVC trousers" and "clean the face before you hit the sack."

She even realize that the barman Oliver was having a crush on her since 10 years ago. And when they met, he hates her.

But life doesn't always sweet. Sometime mistakes just have to be made.

Like me,

I had this thin line of eyebrows when I was 14 and I thought that they are cool. When I looked back at my photos again, I know how horrible I am.

Rating : 8/10
